65+: Cholesterol screening
Definition: Percentage of people aged 65 and over who were screened for blood cholesterol within the past five years, two- or three-year average
Notes: The data are from Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS). Respondents were asked the question: "About how long has it been since you last had your blood cholesterol checked?" This question was asked every odd year of the survey, although some states chose to include it in other years. Percentage is a 2- or 3-year average, which helps to reduce the year-to-year fluctuation due to small numbers. Percentage is reported under the year at the midpoint of the 3-year period. National data is the median of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
