Search Tips:

  1. Enter a keyword or phrase in one or more of the "Search for" boxes.
  2. If you have entered search terms in more than one box, connect the search statements by using a Boolean operator (AND, OR, NOT) by clicking the option button between the boxes.
    • AND narrows the search by combining the terms: nursing AND home
    • OR broadens the search by allowing either term to be found: nursing OR home
    • NOT ensures that certain terms will not appear in the search results: home NOT nursing
  3. If you have entered more than one search word per box, click the drop-down arrow next to "All of these" to select how the words entered will be searched.
    • "All of these" is equivalent to Boolean AND
    • "Any of these" is equivalent to Boolean OR
    • "As a phrase" retrieves records containing all of the keywords in the exact order entered—you don't need quotation marks or parentheses
  4. Select from the drop-down options in the "Search in" box to specify where the search for the keyword or phrase will take place.
  5. You may limit the search to specific publication dates and reference types.

Additional Tips:

  • Use ? with partial words for variant endings: medica? finds Medicare, Medicaid, medical.
  • Enter non-English words in romanized forms (omitting diacriticals).
  • Searches are not case sensitive.
