Tips for Navigating Indicator Database

Browsing Indicators

Begin by choosing indicators you'd like to find out more about. You can browse by subject, age, or location. Within these indicator groups, you'll have other options that can narrow your search.

Selecting Indicators

Click as many boxes as you're interested in viewing statistics for, or click "Select All" to check all the boxes. If you accidentally click the wrong box, just click it again to erase. Then go to the bottom of the page and click "View Indicator(s)" to receive your data.

Receiving and Handling the Latest Data

When you have received the data, you will have several options for handling it. If you’ve chosen data from more than one subject area, they will show up divided by subject for easier reference. The data that are presented are the latest extant for these indicators and are given for as many locations as are available.

To research more data, click "Select Indicators" on the navigation trail above to select other indicators within the current indicator group, or "Indicators Search" to browse another indicator group.

Receiving and Handling Trend Data

When you have received the trend data, you will have several options for handling it.

To view more trend data, click "Latest Data" on the navigation trail above to go back to the indicator result page and select another indicator that has trend data.

To research more data, click "Select Indicators" on the navigation trail above to select other indicators within the current indicator group or "Indicators Search" to browse another indicator group.

Tips for Navigating Publication Database

Browsing Publications

Hawai‘i's Aging has an extensive database of publications. Begin by narrowing your search.

For more search options, click "advanced search" to research publications by title, author, keywords, year, and/or document type.

After you've entered the search criteria, click "Submit" at the bottom of the page to receive your information. To clear all search criteria, click "Reset."

Evaluating Search Results

Each publication is shown with title, year published, document type, author(s), and publisher and/or place of publication. For more information, click "View Detail" at the end of each description. There you'll receive information on the availability of an abstract and the full text, and other related information.

Each page shows a maximum of 10 items. Use the page navigator at the top and the bottom of each page to move between result pages. Here are some more tips:

To refine your search, click the "Back" button on the web browser's toolbar to go back and modify your search criteria.

To research more publications, click "Publications Search" on the navigation trail above to go back to the basic search page. There you can use the basic subject search or link to advanced search.

Obtaining Your Citation and/or Document

Full citation information is available on the "Publication Details."
