In 2000, Good Beginnings Alliance took the lead in creating Champions for Children, a group of organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of Hawai‘i's children and families.

Each week during the legislative session (January through May), Champions distribute issue briefs to all 76 members of the Hawai‘i State Legislature. The intent is to raise awareness about the challenges that confront families with young children and put a face on their very real problems. All briefs contain a short narrative, compelling data and charts, and action steps for our elected leaders.

Every brief conveys the message that "All of Hawai‘i's children deserve to be safe, healthy, and ready to succeed," by focusing on one element that is essential to their development.
